Therapists
Hi, I'm Alex, a HCPC registered Dramatherapist. I specialise in working with children and young adults age 7-25. My expertise include trauma, anxiety, depression, problematic substance use and neurodiversity, I am committed to helping my clients overcome challenges using creative tools. I am here to provide a safe and supportive space where clients can explore emotions and develop the skills needed to thrive.
In my practice as a dramatherapist, I believe in tailoring each session to suit the unique needs and preferences of my clients. Utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a framework. My approach is deeply person-centered, characterized by warmth, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I incorporate various modalities such as play, art, character creation, and storytelling to facilitate exploration and expression. However, I understand that creativity may not be everyone's preferred mode of communication, so there's no pressure to engage in the creative process. Instead, I collaborate with clients to identify the methods that resonate with them, while gently introducing creative tools that I believe could offer additional support and insight along the way. Ultimately, my goal is to create a safe and nurturing space where clients can explore, grow, and find their own path to healing.
For the past two years, I've worked as a Young Persona Therapist at 'The Oasis Project,' where I specialise in working with children aged 6-18 whose families are affected by substance and alcohol misuse. Additionally, I work with 16-25 year olds who experience problematic alcohol and substance misuse themselves. My role involves providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to help these young people navigate their challenges and work towards positive change. With over ten years of experience, I have a strong background working with children, young people, and their families who have autism and ADHD. This extensive experience has equipped me with valuable insights and skills to effectively support individuals with diverse needs, facilitating growth, understanding, and empowerment within these communities.
