About Me

Hi, welcome to my profile. I'm an Integrative Counsellor working with adults in Brighton, Hove and SW11. Whatever you're going through, being seen and heard by another makes a difference. I offer a supportive, non-judgmental and collaborative space to talk things over. I provide short and long-term therapy, usually on the same day of the week and at a set time. I also offer more flexibility for people whose work is on a rota, such as NHS staff.

Therapeutic Approach

Central to my approach is the desire to alleviate suffering while providing insight, change and acceptance. Academically it’s an integration of several therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Humanistic and Psychodynamic. This basically means that I tailor my way of working to whatever it is you need to bring. This can be: talking through your history, understanding attachment styles, hearing about what's troubling you in the present whether that's relational, health problems or work issues, positive reframing techniques, providing healthy coping mechanisms and psychological education where appropriate. You will always be given a confidential and safe space to unburden and be heard, whatever's bringing you to counselling. Abuse, trauma, relationships, grief and loss, anxiety, depression and many difficult issues respond well to therapy.

Background

Before starting in private practice I worked for Mind, a domestic abuse shelter and a low cost counselling service. I've also been a mentor for care leavers and helped to run a support group for sexual abuse survivors.
