Hello there. I’m Helen (she/they) and I’m a humanistic counselling therapist. I believe that you are the expert in your own experience. In our work together, I can help you to explore any aspect of your lived experience that you want to understand more or heal from. Everyone has different needs and experiences and they are all valid and welcome in our sessions. My intention is that through our work together, you can find personal meaning and healing. I offer short-term, fixed-term and open-ended weekly sessions.

I offer a reflective and confidential space and relationship focused on safety, where you can slow down, where you can talk, think, feel and be however you want to be. Together we can work out what you might need from our time together and find ways for you to feel more fulfilled, authentic and at home in yourself and in your body. I take a trauma-informed, consensual, anti-racist and anti-oppressive approach to my work. I am aligned with and affirmative of people of all genders and sexualities. I hold in my awareness that our experiences and feelings are influenced by many psychological, biological and social factors including current and intergenerational cultural, racial, political and systemic oppression and trauma. I hold respect, compassion and kindness at the centre of my work and aim to provide an opportunity for you to take up space, to be seen and to be heard. Through the therapeutic relationship that we develop together and the tools that you can take from our sessions into other parts of your life, my hope and intention is that you can find healing, transformation and change. I look forward to meeting you.

I currently work predominantly within the LGBTQ community. Previously, I have worked in a low-cost general counselling service seeing clients with a broad range of experiences and issues. In addition I have worked in Higher Education for nine years, supporting the wellbeing and mental health of students. I have also previously volunteered for a charity supporting the mental health of people living with post-natal illness. I also have a background in language education, training and management.
