Evangelia (Eva) Karydi
Counselling Psychologist
Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
I am a qualified Counselling Psychologist (doctoral level qualification). I have trained in different therapeutic models and I adopt an integrative approach in my work. I specialise in Schema Therapy, attachment-based psychodynamic therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and CBT. I am also trained in EMDR.
Schema therapy, CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), EMDR, attachment based psychotherapy. While I am informed by evidence-based therapies, I also integrate elements from various experiential approaches, such Voice Dialogue and Internal Family systems (IFS). I believe that no single theory and therapeutic approach can fully capture and describe the complexity of the human existence and therefore an ongoing aim in therapy would be to collaboratively find the best approach to meet your needs, your circumstances and what brings you to therapy at this time.
I have experience working with people with a wide range of issues, from mild to severe difficulties. I have worked at the NHS, as well as in the charity and private sector. Although I have worked for many years in mental health services and I am very familiar with the medical paradigm of mental distress, I maintain a critical view of diagnoses. I am also aware of issues around prescribed psychiatric drug dependence and withdrawal.
