About Me

Hello, I’m Emma and I offer individual therapy online and in person. I believe in the resourcefulness of the human spirit and in the value of helping people to uncover their own solutions to life’s challenges. I am a doctoral researcher in the third year of my training as a Counselling Psychologist. My research explores how time spent in nature may be experienced as therapeutic, within the context of post-traumatic growth. Therapeutic Approach

Psychotherapy is a confidential place for you to talk about anything you want. It offers you a chance to get a better understanding of where you find yourself in life. It is a time each week when you can take stock, collect your thoughts and check in with yourself without any of the usual day-to-day distractions. It is a time to reflect on your assumptions and values, and to get a better sense of what you want for yourself. I see my role as helping you to understand the situation you find yourself in; through listening and questioning, I will work with you to help you to describe and clarify your unique way of being and how you relate to the world. I aim to support you in considering what matters to you and how you might live your life more the way you want to.

In addition to my private practice, I have gained clinical experience in the NHS, and within community counselling services. I have worked with clients experiencing many different issues, including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, body image, addictions and relationship issues. I also have experience working with both patients and carers within an NHS cancer support service. Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in Human Resources at senior level for many years and have experience of helping individuals to understand the complexities that arise in the workplace and how to navigate through these.
