Mood - Motivation - Meaning - Habits - Stress - Sleep. Evidence-based hypnotherapy, mindfulness-based approaches, cognitive behavioural therapies and stress management. All science-based without the woo-woo. I have a passion for helping people overcome those mood and motivation issues, and habits that are stopping them from leading the life they truly want. I hope to bring down some of the barriers to participation in therapy and coaching, and therefore encourage people, who might not usually come to therapy to make the changes they need. Mine is a collaborative and open approach, focussing on building a strong therapeutic alliance and teamwork to get you where you need to be. I draw heavily on values-based goal setting, problem solving therapy, stress inoculation, and behavioural and mindfulness-based approaches. These approaches can be strengthened through the use of focussed attention, rehearsal and relaxation that are provided through hypnosis. https://www.brighton-hypnotherapy.com

I started out with a long career in the sciences, working for government, private consultancy and international funders. As such I have a varied work experience that I hope will enable me to understand work and career-based stresses and concerns you may have. Becoming a therapist was a bit of an accident - I originally sought to learn hypnotherapy as I was interested in how it might improve my abilities as a martial arts and boxing coach and athlete. Over time I started to notice the tremendous benefits that evidence-based approaches could have not only to myself but to others. I hope to try and share some of this knowledge, reduce some of the burdens and challenges we all face, and help reignite the fire and the 'why' in other people's lives.
