Hello. It is not always easy to take a first step towards finding support and hope in a difficult time; but you are here and I warmly welcome you. I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy and have a rich experience of counselling Adults and Young People in services across Sussex (i.e Broadway Counselling Services and Arun Counselling Centre), with clients of diverse needs (please refer below). I bring what is emerging in the room to cultivate more of your own self-awareness and curiosity. Although I may be directive in bringing certain aspects of what is unfolding into awareness at times; I will not simply advise as I value your deeper therapeutic process. I work with you to gain a sense of empowerment and thrive as you move on in your life. I also understand first-hand how important it is to feel safe to express those deepest concerns and be truly heard. I would like to offer you the same. It is important to me that you feel we are a ‘right fit’ so that in time you will begin to feel you can include more aspects of yourself as we explore together what it is to be you; witnessed in a safe, warm and confidential alliance. Please feel free to call to book a preliminary chat to get a sense of our connection. For more info please visit: https://rockshoretherapy.co.uk/

My work is informed by Existential Humanistic theory and principles, including Gestalt and Focusing. I also acknowledge the unique situation you are in, and how it plays an integral part on your journey in addition to how you are and have learnt to see the world. There is value in this relational interplay, much like the sails on a boat navigating all the weathers around it.

I would describe what happens in the room as so much more than simply talking therapy. Having a background in Somatics, from both practising and teaching Yoga, Mindful Awareness and Meditation; I invite us to explore the body-mind relationship and your thinking and feelings in life’s moments to discover if they are speaking the same language. Sometimes we can find conflicting ideas and thoughts within us and and bringing them to the fore through somatic awareness can bring clarity and relief. Finally, following my graduation in Psychology in 2000, I went on to train to teach; so in addition to my work with adults, I also have an extensive background of working with younger minds. I have bridged this rich experience of Child Centred learning with Psychotherapeutic Counselling to counsel young people (age 7-18), and I also Counsel Teens at BHASVIC college with the Y.M.C.A. I am also enhanced DBS checked to work with this age group and vulnerable Adults.
