Changes in relationships or how we live our lives can give rise to anxiety, distress or not feeling in control anymore. Issues I work with include grief and loss, family or relationship difficulties, betrayals or challenging situations in the workplace. High levels of stress or an ongoing low mood limit our capacity to enjoy life. I offer one-to-one supportive sessions where we can explore what’s troubling you at your own pace in a quiet, safe environment and without fear of judgment. We can work together face-to-face, online or over the telephone to explore these issues and what might improve your well-being.

My training and therapeutic approach is person-centred, meaning that you are at the heart of our work and will choose what we work on together. My main focus is on how events, circumstances or people you have encountered affect your wellbeing now, no matter how long ago you experienced them. The impact can be physical as well as mental. I draw on other approaches such as Transactional Analysis or Gestalt where I feel it may be helpful to you but I try to leave jargon outside the room.

I spent several years working in the field of mental health before training in Therapeutic Counselling. That's where I learnt the value of sharing emotional distress with someone who is not involved and won’t judge you. I have extensive experience of working with grief and loss with CRUSE, the leading bereavement charity. In addition to my private practice, I undertake work for Health Assured and Anxiety UK and am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
