I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist based in Brighton and Hove. Over the past 10 years, I have experience of working in primary and secondary mental health care, and also inpatient services within the NHS. Currently, I work for Sussex Community Foundation NHS Trust providing psychological therapy for adult patients with long-term health conditions and practice privately in the Brighton and Hove area. I draw on more than one type of approach to psychological therapy and tailor it to your needs and concerns. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), sensorimotor and neurobiological approaches to therapy. I am interested in how our past relationships and experiences affect how we currently function in life. Above all, I place importance on the quality of the therapeutic relationship and always endeavour to work in a safe, non-judgemental and empathic way. I value honesty, integrity, equality, compassion and genuine relationships. While there are no easy solutions, we can work together to find ways to help you build personal resilience and effective coping strategies.
On a more personal note, I was born in Burma (Myanmar) and moved to the U.K. when I was a young child. Growing up in two cultures has given me an appreciation of people from different backgrounds and identities, understand the challenges this can pose and helps me bring a grounded and practical approach to therapy.
