I am an integrative therapist, counsellor and therapeutic coach which means I work with a number of different leading-edge, clinically tested styles of therapy. In working with clients we normally begin by assessing the deeply held, core beliefs developed in the past that are often behind the disturbance. Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is excellent at diagnosing deeply held unhealthy beliefs. We can then draw from different practices that can help with managing difficult emotions and help change unhealthy thinking and behaviours such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We may then also begin internal somatic processing, EMDR, IFS (parts work) and hypnosis, to shift past hurts and negative beliefs about oneself. We work not only on the unwanted problems but also on developing a life worth living. This means identifying our values, which are really our hearts desire. Therapy is not like you see on TV and in films, it is not just being listened to by a serious looking man with a white beard reclining in a leather armchair who occasionally throws out some words of wisdom. Therapy has been developing alongside everything else and is right up to date in 2023. Therapy is now an active process that includes the use of effective techniques discovered and developed from extensive trials and often based on decades of wisdom and learning about the human mind (yes, science!) The pandemic has been helpful in showing us that maintaining one's mental well-being is a delicate balance that we all have to manage. Life will bring every one of us difficult challenges, we may not necessarily be able to avoid these, but how we react to and how we deal with these challenges is something we do have some control over. Sometimes our emotions can seem overwhelming and lead us to acting in unhealthy and unhelpful ways. We can work on these and find relief. Most of us are dealing with the results of hurt, the lack of the right attention or upsetting experiences. And therapy can help us understand how we developed these hurts and how we can heal them. And they can help us grow as human beings and be more able to give ourselves what we might have needed when we were younger. It helps us develop a relationship with ourselves (our 'capital S' Selves) and then we will live more authentic and more meaningful lives. Number of sessions? - I give clients an idea of how many sessions would be needed to deal with issues after the first three sessions. I also offer 'fast therapy' and single-session therapy - where there is just one session and a single problem is worked on. Feel free to contact me to discuss any issues you would like help with. Although I work with everyone I also specialise in working with artists, performers and those working in the creative industries. I spent many years working in the creative industries and can bring particular therapeutic skills to those working in these fields. Feel free to contact me for further information.

I worked in the arts for many years before studying and then practicing counselling and therapy. I am interested in helping people to make real changes so that they can make the most of this one, precious life. This means living the life that we want to live, a life that is meaningful to us and in line with our values. And being mentally and physically healthy to be able to deal with whatever turns up. I worked in the arts for many years before studying and then practising counselling and therapy. There are particular issues that artists, performers and those in the creative industries can experience and I specialise in helping this group of people to navigate this world. If you are studying, working or hope to work in this field and are experiencing problems of any sort, please contact me for a free meeting as I can help you.
